New Year. New Quilt. New Goal.

and a NEW BLOG….

Sometimes projects just take longer then you expect.  I participated in an online bee in 2013…received the blocks on time…quilted the blocks using free motion quilting and did each color of block with a different free motion technique to get some practice…Had tons of fun pebble stitching and meandering my way thru the blocks….

I researched how to do Quilt as you go…..and that’s where I came to a screeching stop in my progress.   I did one row, and I remember’s not so bad, but it’s so00 boring after all the fun of free motion quilting….since then…it’s sat on a shelf..I looked at it quite a few times….moved the blocks around my room..and almost used the blocks to make zipper pouches…but didn’t….LOL… Then a few weeks ago…. I decided, it was time…

I begrudgingly started working on the row assembly…then ran out of Kona Black….and it sat a few more days… but today New Years Day…I managed to get to the LQS and was able to finish the binding.  Now, I happily have a Finish on New Years Day.  What a way to start the New Year!

I call it “Missing U…Missing Me”   The pattern for the blocks is from the Sunday Morning Quilt book… Many of these blocks traveled from all over the US from ladies in the Sunday Morning Quilt Bee.   I happily will display it on my wall as Wall Art till I decide to change it.  I love it on the wall.

2016 finish 1

I have a goal for 2016.  Starting with this new Blog I want to find time to Sew and Blog everyday.  Even if its just for 15 to 30 minutes a day.  I miss the therapeutic grounding that quilting and blogging gave me in years past.

Cheers to a New Year. a New Quilt..and a New Blog!

I’ve Linked up to Finish it Friday.   Amanda Jean is the co-author of the book I used to make this Quilt.  Thanks Amanda!

  2. Hi, Christine! So glad to have found your new blog. I love it so far. I am also happy to see you finally finished your quilt. It turned out beautifully and I hope you are enjoying it. I still have to quilt the last one we did in the bee, my x plus quilt. the rows are together and the backing is made. It is up at the top of the list for this year. Happy new year to you and happy quilting.
